A nameless Elf, tired of this life, hears the call of the sea and looks off into the distance. The Elvish 'palan-diriel' translates to 'gazes afar'.

Palan-Diriel

Between the fading twilight
There's a watcher on the wall
Looking longing to the distance
Can't quite hear the silent call

      Palan-diriel
      Palan-diriel

She watches in the moonlight
She gazes through the stars
She yearns across the moments
To the free wind sails and spars

      Palan-diriel
      Palan-diriel

She hasn't seen the morning
Yet her eyes are moist with dew
Though her life here may be endless
Her days are almost through

      Palan-diriel
      Palan-diriel

The sea is calling softly
And the piper's paid his dues
The glory's gone to memory
Not much longer to refuse

      Palan-diriel
      Palan-diriel
      Palan-diriel
      Palan-diriel
.
