Part 1a: Mini-Dungeon Series

The continuing exploits of various stray characters left behind in the South.

Pugsley's Adventures: P-Series (P1 to P5) June-September 1988

Background and summary: after parting with Samantha shortly after the Kerratrim circus, Pugsley decides he can't live without her. He spends a lot of time and effort following what he thinks is her trail, only to end up disappointed. He then tries to locate some other old companions, also with little success. Finally, he learns that those who were banished from Kerratrim were probably sent somewhere way up north, so he heads that way, and after several adventures is able to find them - only to almost immediately get killed in their company.

Mar 6 485	Having kept a low profile while observing trial following Kerratrim circus (so as not to be associated with the accused), Pugsley tries to sneak off on Samantha but she catches him.
Mar 12	Both arrive at Bryll and meet Trenellan; Samantha starts showing interest in activites of Assassins.
Mar 17	Pugsley sneaks off successfully this time, taking Samantha's dog with him; Samantha leaves for S-Series.
Mar 18	Meets Fionnbhar and Galadhriel.
May	Having wandered to Bryll, Pugsley hears rumours of Samantha heading east, and decides to follow.
Jun 1	To his complete surprise, he blunders into a war zone where there shouldn't be one. Spends weeks hiding from soldiers of both sides. (this is the Hobgoblin invasion, sweeping west across the southlands)
Jun 24	Finally clear of war (he thinks), he continues east and finds a major mountain pass blocked by an army camp.
Jul 1	Back to town, meets a 14-year-old Thief who would stay with him for some time; Madrigal(T-0) joins. Tries to train Madrigal in fighting but with little success.
Jul 20	Passes east still blocked, decides to go cross-country through mountains.
Jul 30	After a harrowing trip, cross Riman border with Madrigal (now T-1).
Aug 5	Arrive at Riman capital of Blashok; Pugsley and Madrigal among less than a dozen foreigners who would reach this city during the entire war.
Sep 1	After much investigation, hears word of a Hobbit in company of someone called "Tasha".
Sep 4	Realizes Hobbit (probably Samantha) has never been here; leaves Blashok by ship. (stow away?)
Sep 21	Tries to land at Pentra, but it's in process of being sacked and overrun by invading Hobgoblins.
Oct 10	Arrives Silerean, in Irdan; begins trying to find Tinwe, but without success.
Oct 12	Learns of Samatha's death in July, and that Tinwe is somewhere to the east at the front. Leaves for front.
Oct 20	Reaches battleline; no sign of Tinwe, so carries on through into what's left of Nyrthac.
Oct 30	Reaches recently-sacked Kerratrim, now seeking Arthur but no success here either; Arthur has fled.
Nov 1	Learns (erroneously, for now) that Nyrthac's King has died, meaning Arthur is now King if he's still alive.
Nov 3	Start P-1, finding journal of person who sent banishees to Lost Island, with Madrigal and a 3rd-level MU.
Dec 29	End P-1, having lost the MU. Madrigal survives and is now T-2.
Jan 17 486	Training done (to R-2/MU-2)
Jan 24	Start P-2, a follow-up to P-1.
Feb 8	End P-2, now knows where the Lost Island was when the banishment was done.
Feb 10	Leaves Kerratrim intending to head for Ballydoon, the closest major city to the Island's last known location.
Feb 24	Arrives Watermeet, after a rather rough journey. (Madrigal to T-3)
Feb 27	Somehow gains possession of a Flame-Tongue Bastard Sword.
Mar 7	Start P-3, having picked up a Human 2nd-level Fighter and a Hobbit (F-1?).
Mar 19	End P-3, continue travelling.
Apr 1	Arrives Mimosa Town. Training again until Apr 8.
Apr 17	Another random encounter; Madrigal makes it to T-4.
May 4	Start P-4, investigating a tribe of somethings for no known reason.
May 6	End P-4 and get clear of tribe.
May 30	Realizes the last adventure was pointless as they were targeting the wrong tribe.
Jun 1	Start P-5, same as P-4 except hitting the right tribe this time. Now has a 4th-level Bard in his party as well.
Jul 12	End P-5 by being stuck into a magic Prison. Madrigal leaves somewhere around this point.
Sep 12	Somehow gets out of the Prison and continues travelling; no sign of the rest of his party, and almost immediately stumbles into Valanyr's Hovel.

"Tinwe the Unstoppable": TI-series(TI-1 to TI-5) Fall 1987

Background and summary: raised by his family after dying in Rahasia, Tinwe refuses to stop adventuring - and dying - and eventually fails a resurrection, instead reincarnating into a Human in a distant land.

Dec 2 484	Tinwe raised and immediately tries to go out adventuring again; family (including King) try to prevent.
Dec 8	Start TI-1
Dec 11	By now, the Irdan Secret Service has blown 7(!) attempts to prevent Tinwe from going on this adventure.
Jan 5 485	End TI-1; trains to F-2 until Jan 16.
May 16	After months of bureaucracy, he takes to the field again, defending the western border from local nuisances.
May 31	George killed in a minor battle.
Aug 31	By now trained to F-3, Tinwe seeks greater adventures once again.
Sep 6	Start TI-2; family have given up trying to stop him, hoping instead he'll just get adventuring out of his system on his own.
Oct 10	End TI-2; trains to F-4 until Oct 23.
Oct 30	Start TI-3, having hired a rookie Ranger as a hench.
Nov 10	End TI-3.
Nov 27	Start TI-4; this 6-week adventure would amount to a waste of time.
Jan 15 486	End TI-4; Tinwe gains 98 ExP and 0 g.p. for the whole adventure.
Jan 16	Start TI-5, intentionally looking for something more challenging.
Jan 30	Tinwe killed; henchman also killed.
Feb 6	Tinwe resurrected; trains to F-5 until Feb. 16.
Feb 21	Back in field continuing TI-5 adventure.
Mar 20	Tinwe killed again; end TI-5 (for all practical purposes).
Mar 21	Tinwe fails raise and is reincarnated as a Human female baby far to the north. Ultimately, this child would go on to survive the war, but a curse - picked up by Tinwe on one of his adventures - now dooms this soul to forever reincarnate immediately upon death.

Thorrhalla's Folly: T-Series (T1 to T2) Fall 1987

Background and summary: after the rest of her party is either killed or banished for their roles in the Kerratrim circus, Thorrhalla becomes a free agent. She becomes a hench to a high-level Fighter, but after only a few adventures finds herself caught up in the Hobgoblin invasion. She enlists in the Nyrthac army, and dies in the defense of Bryll city.

Mar 4 485	Finds herself alone when rest of party either killed or banished after Kerratrim disaster. Turns to logging to make ends meet, but gets bored within days and starts looking for adventure.
Apr 4	Start T-1, takes 2 tries to finish.
May 5	End T-1, by now has become a hench to a 6th-level Fighter.
May 24	Finish double-training, to F-3.
May 25	Start T-2, a follow-up adventure to T-1.
Jul 5	End T-2; learning of impending war, she resigns hench commission and leaves party in mid-adventure.
Jul 8	Joins Nyrthac army.
Jul 22	Takes part in a major battle at northeast border of Nyrthac; army loses, and is driven back into Nyrthac.
Aug 17	Arrives at Bryll with army division; helps prepare to defend city.
Aug 20	Bryll attacked and taken. Thorrhalla killed.

Defense of Nyrthac Fall 1987

Background and summary: war sweeps out of the east and overruns Nyrthac. Arthur takes part in the defense, while steadily getting closer to the throne; by war's end he is King, but his reign does not last long.

Feb 485	Arrive back at Kerratrim after overland journey from Rahasia.
Mar 17	Arthur challenged to a duel for some reason; wins easily.
Apr 13	Learns of mass army desertions in northeast of country, investigates, eventually learns troops are not so much deserting as dying; something is killing everything in the Sapent swamp. For some reason, however, nothing is done about this either now or later.
Jul 5	Neighbouring land of Kavon falls to Hobgoblins. Start moving troops to border, avoiding Sapent.
Aug 2	Invaders cross border and are carefully steered into Sapent; this slows down invasion for weeks.
Aug 20	Bryll sacked.
Sep 14	"Battle of Esten", and Arthur wins; this is the first time the invaders have conceded held ground. Arthur's older brother killed, he is now first in line to the throne.
Oct 1	Invaders hold most of Nyrthac except Kerratrim and north. Arthur assigned to hold Kerratrim until relieved.
Oct 7	Kerratrim attacked from west but is concentrating defenses to east and south; barely holds out, and King loses both legs. Arthur becomes Regent as King no longer able to rule.
Oct 22	Kerratrim falls after a couple more major battles; Nyrthac surrenders. Arthur flees to north.
Dec 2	By now, some odd allies coming out of the woodwork, including a herd of Unicorns and a large tribe of Orcs, along with a few Giants and unconfirmed reports of Drow.
Dec 6	Another huge battle. Orcs clobbered; 90% losses. King dead; Arthur now King.
Dec 9	Last resistance in Nyrthac wiped out. Johard killed. Arthur to Perell, hides with Elves and trains to F-2.
Jan 486	Sets up regency in exile in Perell.
Feb 27	Takes part in defeat of a large White Dragon.

Record here ends, but Arthur would live to sit on the throne at Kerratrim; the invasion would fizzle out after a few years, and the Hobgoblins would ultimately be driven out. Unfortunately, Arthur's reign would be short, as he ends up getting killed in a mopping-up battle sometime in 490.

Thieves Incorporated: F-Series(F-1 to F-11) October 1987 and July 1991

Background and summary: Fionnbhar and Galadhriel roam around the continent finding adventure at every turn.

Aug 30 484	Retire from party, spend a few weeks thieving in Bryll.
Sep 16	Thieving attracts attention of Bryll Thieves' Guild; they leave town rather quickly.
Oct 30	Start F-1, having rounded up 3 companions.
Nov 10	End F-1, training goes on for a few weeks. Galadhriel now I-2/T-2, Fionnbhar now MU-2/T-2.
Mar 1 485	After months of roaming around the southlands, they hear news of the Kerratrim circus and head there.
Mar 16	Arrive at Kerratrim, having missed the circus by almost a month. Hear of death of Lena, and investigate.
Mar 18	Meet with Samantha and Pugsley, who fill them in on what happened. Realizing Lena is beyond saving, they leave, travelling with Pugsley for a month or so before he heads off east.
Mar 30	Start F-2.
May 15	End F-2, and spend the summer and fall roaming around the southlands again trying to avoid war.
Nov 10	Start F-3. Somewhere around here Kayenne of Shannydoon(MU-2/T-2) joins.
Nov 20	End F-3 after 2 tries. Fionnbhar now has a Sock of Flying.
Jan 6 486	For some reason, they go north towards Ballydoon and run smack into the war; Fionnbhar and Galadhriel killed. Bodies saved by Kayenne, who survives.
Jan 21	Sometime before this, Fionnbhar raised; Galadhriel raised. Also, Kayenne leaves around now, and would wind up in Night's Dark Terror A.
Feb 7	Start F-4; Fionnbhar and 2 heavy Fighters go one way, Galadhriel and an MU go another.
Feb 11	Fionnbhar returns to Ballydoon and somehow manages to get arrested.
Feb 14	Galadhriel returns to Ballydoon until Feb 21, then heads back into F-4 adventure.
Feb 24	Galadhriel returns to Ballydoon again, spends days trying to find Fionnbhar.
Feb 30	End F-4; Fionnbhar broken out of jail and both flee town.
Mar 18	By now, both have trained; Fionnbhar now MU-3/T-4, Galadhriel now I-3/T-4.
Apr 30	Start F-5 in Pleutagne after a long boat trip.
May 16	End F-5.
May 18	Fionnbhar caught stealing from party during F-5 treasury division.
May 20	Galadhriel breaks Fionnbhar free of party's captivity; both flee yet again.
Aug 6	After sailing even farther south, F+G hear about another adventure.
Aug 11	Start F-6 with a new party.
Aug 23	Fionnbhar killed.
Sep 26	End F-6.
Oct 5	Fionnbhar resurrected.
Oct 29	Start F-7 after a very long journey to get there.
Dec 6	End F-7, head back.
Jan 7 487	By now, both have trained: Fionnbhar now MU-4/T-5; Galadhriel now I-4/T-5. Begin another journey.
Jan 16	Start F-8 in same area as F-7, with same party.
Feb 30	End F-8.
Mar 3	Start F-9, a direct follow-on from F-8.
Mar 18	End F-9, and leave that party after the trip home.
Apr 4	A bit of thieving somewhere leads to another adventure; start F-10.
Apr 8	End F-10.
Jun 8	Reach holy city of Balshera after 2 months of travel, and quickly find adventure here.
Jun 11	Start F-11, a long, tough, and lucrative adventure.
Jul ?	Fionnbhar killed.
Aug 16	End F-11.
Aug 18	Fionnbhar resurrected.
Sep 2	Both finish training to T-6, and start travelling north and west along the coast.
Sep 17	Arrive at a city in Farnos, having bypassed war-torn Rima, and start training again.
Sep 26	Finish training; Fionnbhar now MU-5/T-6; Galadhriel now I-5/T-6, and here their record ends.

Samantha the Wanderer: S-Series(S1 to S-9) December 1987

Background and summary: After she and Pugsley manage to avoid the disaster that was the Kerratrim Circus, Samantha sets off on her own to find adventure wherever she can.

Mar 17 485	Left on her own after Pugsley took off with her dog, Samantha starts looking for another companion and an adventure; soon finds both: Tasha(A-5) joins, with a goodly mission that needs doing.
Mar 28	Start S-1, a spying mission into Rima.
May 8	End S-1; return to Bryll never knowing Pugsley has just gone into Rima looking for Samantha.
May 9	Samantha "quest"ed by Mimosa as punishment for using poison in last adventure.
May 10	Start S-2, this is Mimosa's quest, to recover a highly-enchanted dagger.
May 16	Tasha killed.
May 17	Samantha killed, but sent back to Telenet almost immediately by Mimosa to finish quest: Samantha raised.
May 18	End S-2.
May 30	Start S-3, a continuation of the same quest.
Jul 15	End S-3.
Jul 16	Samantha called back by Mimosa: Samantha killed.
Dec 17	Samantha resurrected by mistake, by a Demon in the Hobgoblin army! She somehow convinces the Hobgoblins of her usefulness, and is put into their army.
Dec 18	Start S-4, which consists of her workings within the Hobgoblin army.
Dec 21	Hears that Bitch has also been captured by this army, but unable to find her.
Feb 6 486	End S-4; needs training in both classes (to NtC-4/T-4).
Mar	During training, makes contact with other adventurers and escapes army.
Mar 20	Start S-5, end S-5; a one-day adventure gains more experience and treasure than the last 3 combined!
Mar 20	Receives a visit from Balin, who updates her on developments elsewhere.
Mar 22	Start S-6, an extremely trivial adventure.
Mar 24	End S-6 by being re-captured by the Hobgoblin army.
Mar 24	Meets Bitch in the prison camp; Bitch(B-3) joins (but how is she alive after Rescue of Drustan?)
Mar 25	Somehow, they escape the prison camp.
Apr 1	Start S-7a.
Apr 11	End S-7a, as it was proving just a little too dangerous. Both need training. (S. to T-5, B. to B-4)
May 10	Having somehow gained an Orc and an Ogre as adventuring companions, start S-7b.
May 17	End S-7b, this being the second attempt at the same adventure, but more successful.
May 24	Start S-8.
Jun 28	End S-8, having lost the Orc somewhere along the line.
Jul 1	Another visit from Balin; he stays around a few days this time.
Jul 6	Balin teleports them to join the Elves of the plains, and sends both on separate missions, thus Bitch leaves.
Jul 23	Arrive Mimosa Town on Balin's instructions.
Jul 27	Meets high-level Mimosa Cleric, who gives details of what would become S-9.
Jul 29	Start S-9, a singlehanded rescue of an entire adventuring party.
Aug 15	End S-9.
Aug 20	Arrive Endridge, buys a war dog and another dog; continues travelling north, and stumbles into Valanyr's Hovel.

And where does Bitch get to?

Balin sends her on a mission to find Drustan's ring, given to him by Penthesileah last mid-winter. Departing in early July, by early August she has found Bye(Mk-3), and she wastes little time in getting both the ring (no record of how Bye ever got it) and an amulet off of him; the amulet would prove to be an Amulet of the Planes. After rambling around the midlands for a while (and changing her name to Elektra, for some reason), she tried out the Amulet and began plane-hopping; some 6 or 7 worlds later she makes it back to New Widdershyn, there to meet up with Pugsley and find herself quickly immersed in Dolmen Moor.

Hobbit Army May 1989

Background and summary: having seen firsthand just what the Hobgoblin army was up to, Samantha feels that not enough is being done to oppose it. So, she abandons her most recent party (Split) and sets about building her own army, which she then hands over to Penthesileah after leading it some 1500 miles north.

Jan 25 487	Samantha begins inciting the local Hobbit population around Endridge to rise up against the Hobgoblin invaders; meets with some small success over the following days.
Jan 26	Madrigal(T-7) joins.
Feb 4	Receives an unexpected "commune" with Mimosa, who tells her to take whoever she can find and join with Penthesileah's army far to the north. Decides to make recruiting a full-time job, and is given "Mimosa's Rose" (device of leadership) to make things easier.
Feb 6	A band of 28 rebellious Hobbits meets to the north of Endridge; they split into two groups, and head north along different routes recruiting as they go.
Mar 7	The two groups re-join near Damrosil river; total number now almost 3000, about half Hobbits and the rest a mix of various races.
Mar 9	Arrive at front line from the rear, scout.
Mar 10	Army fights its way through front line surprisingly easily, and carries on.
Mar 18	Arrive Wurgen; army given over to Penthesileah (and Madrigal goes with it; Madrigal retires), while Samantha joins another party (Main). Mimosa's Rose disappears at this point.
