Background
and History: Murasaki Shikibu -- a.k.a. Arlan, a.k.a. Kiralanethen
-- is a certified pest. She began adventuring as being the equivalent
age to a 15 yr old Human -- with all the annoyance value of one
as well. Cleric to the Elvish deity of Chaos, she never let anyone
forget that chaos could be fun (at least fun for the person committing
the act).
Her particularly
"interesting" racial background has given her certain
abilities (and drawbacks) -- for example, she will likely be immortal
if not killed by accident or malice, but at the same time it is
uncertain (and unlikely) that she would be able to be raised,
resurrected, or otherwise brought back if killed. She would also
object to such "second-chance" treatment if it were
offered, as "death is part of life." It is also unclear
if she can actually leave the physical planet of Dafan or its
plane as she may be "rooted" there as part of Nature.
She spends much of her time in animal form away from civilization
of any sort.
Her close
comrades-in-arms (which have included Gandalf,
Lanefan, Haldir,
Shauna, Alcavron, and James) know from
her behaviour that she has an affinity to (and possibly abilities
within) particular Elvish forests. For example, somehow she was
able to set up an adventure in the forest of Forlond for James
and Lanefan to recover the Heal Sword -- which James found under
an ancient Green Dragon that had been asleep for so long that
it was covered in a layer of dirt and thick moss!
The only character
ever to be run-over by a sky-castle and survive (only because
she was already lying in bird-form squished into a muddy battle
field!). She also has a hatred of Samurai and took some pains
to drive one to suicide, and has little or no interest in wealth
-- tending to readily give away expensive items if it achieves
the ultimate goal of causing Chaos.
